PAA and CNSC will collaborate on the licensing of the GEH BWRX-300
24/02/2023, 12:39The Nuclear regulators of Poland and Canada signed a memorandum extending their supervisory cooperation. The agreement focuses on small modular reactors (SMRs), in particular GE-Hitachi’s BWRX-300 – reactors that will be deployed in Poland by OSGE.
The agreement primarily concerns small modular reactors, in particular the BWRX-300. Polish and Canadian supervision authorities will exchange information on best practices and technical reviews in the field of this technology. The parties also agreed to share the results of independent analyses and assessments conducted as part of the licensing process. The memorandum also provides for joint actions in the above-mentioned areas and in the field of training and development of regulatory solutions to ensure the safety of this technology.
The agreement was signed by Andrzej Głowacki, Acting President of Poland’s National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA – Państwowa Agencja Atomistyki) and Rumina Velshi, Chair of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) on the sidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency conference on Effective Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Systems in Abu Dhabi.
