Six applications for decision-in-principle submitted
28/04/2023, 16:00OSGE has submitted six applications to the Ministry of Climate and Environment for a decision-in-principle on the construction of power plants based on GEH BWRX-300 small modular reactor at six locations.
These locations are: Ostrołęka, Włocławek, Stawy Monowskie (Oświęcim), Dąbrowa Górnicza, Kraków-Nowa Huta and the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone (Tarnobrzeg and Stalowa Wola).
According to the amended Law on preparation and delivery of investment projects in the area of nuclear power facilities and their accompanying projects, the decision-in-principal determines the permitted parameters of an investment in the construction of a nuclear power plant and authorises applying for further decisions, including siting decisions.
The law provides that the minister responsible for energy should issue a decision-in-principal within 90 days. The decision is the first stage of obtaining administrative decisions and permits necessary during the investment process, with obtaining a construction permit as the final step.
