Companies, including OSGE shareholder – Synthos Green Energy – are part of a team led by GE-Hitachi which has been awarded a £33.6 million UK Future Nuclear Enabling Fund (FNEF) grant to support development of the BWRX-300 technology.

The Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment issued six decisions-in-principle for the construction of power plants based on GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) at six locations. A total of 24 BWRX-300 reactors can be deployed at the sites. The applications were submitted by OSGE’s special purpose companies.

At the COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai, industry representatives from around the world signed a pledge to support the development of nuclear energy. OSGE is among the signatories of this declaration.

OSGE has been awarded in  the strategic Project Phoenix and will receive funding from the U.S. Department of State to accelerate SMR project in Poland. The official launch of the project takes place today in Bratislava.

“The benefits to the economy and local communities of investing in a small nuclear reactors” – was the title of a panel discussion at the XXII Economic Forum in Karpacz, of which OSGE was a partner. A report on the subject prepared by KPMG premiered during the panel.

More than 2,700 new jobs could be created by one BWRX-300 reactor deployed in Poland, while the total economic impact from the operation of such a power plant is estimated at PLN 24 billion. A report on the economic impact of the OSGE project was prepared by KPMG and presented at the Economic Forum in Karpacz.

Stawy Monowskie, Włocławek and Ostrołęka – three proceedings for issuing environmental decisions for the BWRX-300 construction projects are already underway. The first cross-border consultations have also been initiated.

The General Director of Environmental Protection has started proceedings to issue the Environmental Decision for the construction of BWRX-300 at Stawy Monowskie site. For OSGE, this is another important step closer to the deployment of a fleet of SMRs in Poland.

OPG and its subsidiary are extending their collaboration with OSGE as they deploy and operate SMRs in Europe. Now OPG will also support OSGE in the area of building nuclear operator competence.
